International Union of Operating Engineers Local 942

The successful applicant will provide clerical support, bookkeeping and secretarial services to the union office of the International Union of Operating Engineers Local 942.  The successful applicant will work as a member of a collaborative team providing and ensuring continuity of services to the IUOE Business Representatives, Executive Board members and the membership.

Duties shall include:

– Providing secretarial/clerical support;

-Acting as first point of contact, greeting visitors to the office building;

-Answering and redirecting phone calls to the appropriate parties;

-Coordinating and scheduling appointments;

-Booking meeting rooms

-Scanning, photocopying and filing materials;

-Typing and transcribing reports, correspondence and minutes for staff and Executive Board;

-Sorting and distributing mail;

-Creating and distributing office memos and letters;

-Processing accounts payable and receivables, payroll and travel claims;

-Preparing financial reports;


-Maintaining and ordering office supplies;

-Maintaining files for annual audit;

-Other related duties.

Minimum Qualifications:

-Applicants must have successful completion of Grade XII, successful completion of

a recognized program of post-secondary business or office studies program with training in  accounting/bookkeeping procedures;

-At least 3 years experience in related secretarial work is required;

-Applicants must have typing speed of 50 words per minute, net of errors;

-Experience with various computer programs including word processing, accounting, payroll and spreadsheets is required;

-Must be a strong multi-tasker and be able to prioritize duties;

-Additional relevant education and experience in the area of job assignment would be an asset;

-Access to a reliable vehicle is required;

-The successful applicant must have a good previous work and attendance record.

Salary range:  In accordance with previously established pay rates.

Bi-Weekly Hours:  75.0 hours bi-weekly/ Monday to Friday /Days

Commencing immediately.
