New CUPE Collective Agreement

Jun 23, 2025

Dear IUOE 942 Members,

We want to take a moment to acknowledge and celebrate the recent tentative agreement reached by CUPE members working in healthcare. This deal includes substantial gains, and we extend our congratulations to them on this significant achievement.

Progress at the bargaining table by one union is progress for all. Each success raises the bar and creates new opportunities for others across the broader labour movement. It is a reminder that collective action, determination, and solidarity can deliver meaningful improvements to the lives of workers.

At IUOE Local 942, we are actively preparing to position ourselves for a successful round of bargaining upon the expiration of our collective agreement in March of 2026. These kinds of victories don’t happen overnight—they are the result of deliberate planning, clear priorities, and strong member engagement. That is the path we are following.

In the coming weeks and months, we will be ramping up our engagement with you, the membership, to ensure that your voice is heard and reflected in the proposals we bring forward. Your feedback will be essential in shaping our priorities at the bargaining table. We encourage every member to participate in upcoming meetings, surveys, and discussions. A more informed, involved, and united membership will only strengthen our ability to make meaningful gains.

We also encourage members to share their ideas and priorities not only with your union representatives, but directly with management within your departments. When both the union and employer hear clearly and consistently about what matters most to workers, it helps foster a more cooperative and productive environment. A strong, grassroots message from all sides can contribute to more effective negotiations and better outcomes for everyone.

Let’s continue to stand together as we move forward. United, we can—and will—achieve the improvements our members deserve.

In solidarity,

Chad W.S. McNeill

President/Business Manager
